Plane with rapper Post Malone blows tires at takeoff

Fresh off his win at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards, rap star Post Malone found himself in an airborne drama in the skies over the tri-state area on Tuesday when a private jet carrying him to London blew two tires, according to reports.
The Gulfstream IV carrying him and 15 others blew the tires as it took off from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey at about 10:50 a.m., according to TMZ and the Federal Aviation Administration.
The pilot began circling the airport, where emergency vehicles massed near the runway to wait for the plane to attempt to land with the damaged landing gear.
The luxury aircraft, which had been headed to London’s Luton Airport, was finally diverted to Stewart International Airport in New York’s Orange County, where it was expected to land about 2 p.m.
Earlier reports said the plane was headed to Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport in Westfield, Mass., some 150 miles away, but it was eventually rerouted to Stewart, an FAA source told The Post.
TMZ reported that Malone, 23, whose song “Rockstar” won the MTV Video Music Award for Song of the Year on Monday night, was aboard the ill-fated flight.
Malone’s reps did not respond to a call and messages from The Post.
Flight tracking service flightradar24.com showed the flight circling over Stamford and Bridgeport in southern Connecticut on the Long Island Sound shortly after 1 p.m.
The plane was diverted so it could burn off more fuel for a safer possible crash landing, a source told TMZ. The jet had 3,700 gallons of fuel to burn, according to the outlet.
No injuries were immediately reported after the incident.
Malone, who performed at the VMA Awards with 21 Savage and Aerosmith, was scheduled to perform in England on Friday.
“You go to bed and you dream about maybe winning and then whenever you get up here you don’t remember what the hell to say,” Malone said while taking the stage with 21 Savage, according to People.
“Thank you so much. Thank you to my family, thank you to my crew — everybody that was a part of the song. Thank you everybody for listening.”
He added: “Honestly, in a hundred million years I would never expect to do this ever, so this is sick. So thank you so much, guys, thank you so much.”
The Syracuse-born rapper shot to stardom with his 2015 single “White Iverson,” and has gone on to win multiple awards for his music.
He made history when his second album, “Beerbongs & Bentleys,” broke the first-week streaming record on Spotify.
Malone has worked with rappers such as 50 Cent and Kanye West and performed at Kylie Jenner’s 18th birthday bash.
His first single from the album “Rockstar” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and held the spot for eight consecutive weeks. It also won Top Rap Song at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards.
